For some time now I have been convinced that there exists a large, virtual community of people who are as interested in fisheries history as I am (I hold this thought despite years of evidence that most people don’t find fishing at all interesting, let alone fisheries history).

The intent of the blog has been to explore tapping this virtual community by asking people to contribute their memories, their stories, their pictures, their home movies, their links.

Will this work? Who knows? But it has certainly been helpful to me during the last two years; it has helped frame my thinking for a curriculum on the development of fishing and the development of fisheries science in Oregon.
