The Cobb under construction at the 250-foot long Western Boat Shipyard, BCF photo

Our blog posts are populated with people and fish and they are also populated with boats, from the Western Flyer to the Pacific Explorer (which Bob says I should not call a fishing boat, it was a factory processing ship). The  Cobb was the premier fisheries research ship in the Pacific from its launch in 1950 (check out the post if only for the wonderful photographs of a beautiful boat. Bob served on the Cobb and his adventures on his first voyages are among his best writing on the blog.
